First Comes Love is a short experimental video installation that has images of two men in love, naked in bed. It’s shot on super 8 film, so it has a grainy black and white image. The audio is recorded during to 2004 gay marriages in San Francisco. I recorded hours and hours of ambient audio during those marriages. It was such an amazing sound scape, people from all over the world, gathered and waiting in line and celebrating their lives and love. I was at city hall for more than a week, every day recording audio. One day when I was walking up to city hall, I heard a lone dissenter is a sea of joyous and tireless celebration. I recorded his voice too, because it was so pathetic set against the celebrations.

In a small room, the video is projected on the wall. As big as possible. The bottom of the video should touch the floor. The audio is played loud, so you hear city hall.
